Call for tutorial proposals

SIGCOMM 2005

General information:

As part of the program of the ACM SIGCOMM 2005 conference, SIGCOMM will be hosting two days of half-day and full-day tutorials on technical areas related to data communications. The tutorials will present recent advances in the field and will be targeted towards practitioners and researchers in the area of computer communications. Every effort will be made so that the tutorial section function complementarily to the technical program of the conference.

Proposals for tutorials are solicited. Evaluation of proposals willbe based on the expertise and experience of the instructors, the relevance of the subject matter, the objectives outlined in the general conference objectives. Potential instructors are invited to submit a tutorial proposal of at most 3 pages, including a biographical sketch, to tutorial chair by October 15, 2004.

What to send:

  1. Title, abstract, and outline of material to be presented
  2. Name, contact information, biographical sketch of the presenter(s), list of prior tutorials presented
  3. Description of the potential audience and of any prerequisite background knowledge expected from the target audience
  4. Why the proposed topic is interesting, timely, and relevant to SIGCOMM attendees
  5. List of handouts or books to be distributed to the participants
