Paper Submission Instructions

Thanks for your interest in IMC 2006. To submit a paper, you will need to complete the following 3 simple steps. Please follow the instructions carefully to avoid any problems with the handling of your paper.

Step 1:Paper/Abstract Registration

Register your paper at the IMC 2006 Paper Submission Web Site. You must do this by 22:00 EDT, May 19, 2006.

Step 2: Paper Requirements

Please make sure that your paper satisfies ALL of the following requirements before being submitted:

• The paper must be registered (see Step 1 above).
• The paper must be original material that has not been previously published nor is currently under review by another conference or journal. All material in the paper that overlaps reviously published or simultaneously submitted papers from any of the authors must be adequately documented.
• The paper must have an abstract of under 250 words.
• The paper must conform with the page limits given in the Call for Papers: at most 6 pages for extended abstracts and at most 14 pages for full papers. The paper must also conform with the following formating guidelines. Submissions that do not conform with both formatting instructions and page limits will not be reviewed.
• Paper format:
  • Two-column, 10 point serif font (or higher) used for the main text body.
  • Margins and layout must follow ACM guidelines: double column, with each column 9.25" by 3.33", 0.33" space between columns. Each column must contain no more than 55 lines of text. For the submission, please do not use the SIG template - use the standard LaTeX "article" format in 10 point, double column with page numbering.
  • Formatted for black-and-white printers and not color printers. This is especially true for plots and graphs in the paper.
  • Please number the pages.
  • Along with the names of the authors, the front page should indicate both of the following:
    • The paper ID number, which is the login password assigned during the paper registration process (see step 1 above).
    • The total number of pages in the submission.
    • A footnote indicating that the paper can be considered for the Best Paper Award. This is based on the authors making the datasets used in their work openly available to the community by the camera ready deadline on August 25, 006.
  • Please make sure that the output has been formatted for printing on LETTER size paper. If generating a Postscript file using "dvips", use the option "-t letter".
• The paper must be submitted in Postscript or PDF format. We cannot accept any other format, and we must be able to print the document just as we receive it.
• It is possible that the program committee may decide that a full length version of a paper does not meet the standard for acceptance, but that an extended abstract version would be acceptable. Authors will have the option on the IMC 2006 Paper Submission Web Site to specify whether or not they would like their full length papers to be considered for this alternative form of acceptance. There is no penalty for either choice, and full length papers accepted as extended abstracts will be shepherded.

Step 3: Paper Submission

Submit your paper (in Postscript or PDF format, as described above) via the IMC 2006 Paper Submission Web Site.You must do this by 22:00 EDT, May 26, 2006.

The paper must be submitted electronically, and the process must be completed by the 22:00 EDT, May 26, 2006 deadline. This is a hard deadline.
