ACM CoNEXT 2014December 2-5, 2014 |
With support from the U.S. National Science Foundation and SIGCOMM, CoNEXT 2014 will provide a limited number of grants to students to attend the main conference as well as to participate in the ACM CoNEXT 2014 Student Workshop.
The support is intended to defray, but not entirely cover, the costs of attending the conference and workshop. At this point, we are still estimating what the awards will be. The final amount will be determined before notifications are made. Only registration, shared conference room, and airfare will qualify for reimbursement. The award will be handled via reimbursements. The specific way will depend on the source of the travel grant, for example, some travel grants will be reimbursed through an NSF grant and some through ACM directly. Further details of the reimbursement procedure will be communicated to the award recipients.
There are two categories of student travel grant: (1) NSF, for which only students attending a university in the U.S. are eligible, and (2) SIGCOMM/corporate supporters, for which all students are eligible. Applicants will be automatically considered for all eligible grant categories. Importantly, as per NSF policy, a student receiving a NSF travel grant must book via a U.S.-based airline carrier in order to be eligible for reimbursement.
Special efforts will be made to recruit student participants who are underrepresented in STEM disciplines, and who are coming from diverse institutions.
In making Student Travel Grant decisions, students with accepted posters or presentations at the ACM CoNEXT 2014 Student Workshop will be given higher priority. However, the Committee strongly prefers students who are not authors of a conference paper orof workshop paper (the Committee believes the authors’ home organizations should cover costs for authors).
