ACM CoNEXT 2011 Student Workshop

Held in conjunction with The 7th ACM International Conference on emerging Networking EXperiments and Technologies (ACM CoNEXT).

Call for Papers

The 7th ACM International Conference on emerging Networking EXperiments and Technologies (ACM CoNEXT), to be held in Tokyo, Japan, will continue as a forum for fostering scientific and technological exchanges between various international research communities in networking. Following the success of previous years, the main conference will be preceded with a one day Student Workshop. The ACM CoNEXT 2011 Student Workshop aims at providing a platform for graduate students in the areas of computer networks and data communication to divulge their ongoing research efforts, even if at an early stage. The venue also represents a unique opportunity for students to network with other young researchers as well as more experienced ones, receiving constructive feedback, guidance, tips, and learning about cutting-edge research problems being tackled by the student community.

We invite submissions of abstracts of up to 2 pages from graduate students describing ongoing research work for potential presentation at the ACM CoNEXT 2011 Student Workshop. Research that addresses non-standard topics and controversial problems and approaches is of particular interest. Submission of work in an early stage is particularly encouraged.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) :

• Internet measurement and modeling
• Economic aspects of networks
• Network security
• Networked games or multimedia applications
• Routing and traffic engineering
• Wireless networks
• Mobile and cellular networks
• Ad hoc and sensor networks
• Online social networks
• Datacenter networks
• Peer-to-peer, overlay and content distribution networks
• Delay and disruption tolerant networks
• New networking protocols and architectures
• Applications of network science in communication networks
• Interface among networking, communications and information theory

Selected abstracts will be published in the ACM CoNEXT 2011 proceedings and authors will be required to present their work through a poster session.

Formatting Guidelines

Please follow the ACM CoNEXT 2011 Formatting Guidelines EXCEPT for the following two differences:

• Papers are limited to TWO (2) pages only. This includes ALL figures, tables, appendices, etc.
• Please provide only author names and affiliations; it is not necessary to add PAPER ID and number of pages.

After having submitted their abstracts, all PhD students will be asked to comment on 1 - 2 submitted abstracts. This will allow the students to see the ongoing research of the others before the workshop to facilitate discussion, feedback, and potential collaboration. These comments will not be used by the PC to select which posters appear at the workshop, and authors will be given the option to exclude their abstracts from comments by other students. Posters for accepted abstracts should have the following size: DIN A0 (841 x 1189 mm; 33.1 x 46.8 inches). ACM CoNEXT 2011 will provide boards and easels for posters to the conference. Authors are responsible for printing and mounting their posters.

Important Dates

Student Travel Grants

A number of grants (20-30 grants are expected this year) will be available to students to attend the main conference as well as to participate in the ACM CoNEXT 2011 Student Workshop. In making Student Travel Grant decisions, students with accepted posters at the ACM CoNext 2011 Student Workshop will be given higher priority. Best Poster Award

This year, all posters will be considered for a Best Poster Award. A committee will select the best poster at the workshop considering both the poster and the presentation. The winner will be invited to give a 5-minute presentation of his/her work at the main conference.
